I’m not paid to care; I’m paid to ACT like I care

Imagine you’re in a supermarket you normally don’t shop at. You just got all of your stuff, but you’re not all that pleased. I mean, you got your stuff, but the order of the store made no sense, it’s costing you a bit more (because you’re only there for some amount of convenience, be it closer to where you’re going or whatever,) there’s only 4 or so non-self-service lanes open, and the one you’re in appears to be the fastest (or maybe you’re a lazy prick and you went to aisle one because you’re an asshole.)
Someone’s gotta know your dissatisfaction, no matter how miniscule it is. That’s right, you’re gonna talk about how much this store sucks right in front of the cashier, and how it’s so much better at Competitor X stores and how you should have just spent the little bit more time to go there. Yeah! That’ll tell them!
Congratulations, you just wasted your time and air.
Because you wanna know what, the cashier doesn’t fucking care. Believe it or not, the person at the register does not care, nor is in a position to care about what you think of the store and it’s service, nor are they in a position to change anything for (what you would perceive to be) the better.
Believe it or not, they’re only paid to smile, nod, and get you the fuck out of there. Complain all you want! They won’t care, because they’re not obligated to listen. As long as you leave the store without bugging someone else, they’ve done their job.
So remember, the next time you go into a store and just have to bitch about how dissatisfied (by .01%) you are, don’t do it in the line, it just gives the cashier less incentive to give 100% care for your order, and only do enough to get you the hell out of there. Go to the management of the store, they’re paid (enough) to care. Or better yet, speak with your wallet, don’t shop there! Remember, the employees walk out of the store with more money in their pocket, not less, like you sad saps, regardless if you went there happy or not.
Addendum: Do not make a retarded, uneducated comparison between the prices at the grocery store to those at the gas station. Anyone with two functioning brain cells can make the correlation between gas prices and the cost of food, since the food has to get to the store somehow.
