I Get a Job; World to End Next Week

by Merv Burger on May.10, 2008, under General

I just recently got into the world employment. No really! I did!

Yeah, call my bluff, but it's true

Granted, I had to get the hell out of Lockport in order to get said job, but I have one now nonetheless.

Funny enough, I’m working at Tops, all the way out on Maple and Transit road in Amherst, but hey, the one in Lockport wouldn’t ever call me back even if I paid them, so their loss. Besides, when I go back to school in the fall, it’s only about 15 minutes, at most, from UB, which is a bit better than the drive from home to there.

Of course, it will be added incentive for me to actually get my license soon (as if I wasn’t already planning on doing so this summer!)

I only did the orientation today (three hours paid and lunch on them, and I didn’t have to really do anything!) and I start on Monday. I’m only a cashier, but a) you have to start somewhere (and at least it isn’t pushing carts,) and b) money is money. I’m not going to complain, it gets me out of the house for the summer, and gives me some money to do fun stuff when I’m free, although most of it’s going to go for eventually buying a car, hopefully early next year.

I’m still convinced I only have this job because it’s not in Lockport, and it’s currently a slight inconvenience in the transportation department for now. But hey, Lockport is the one at the loss for only being willing to hire dumb, barely-educated shits off the street, and not people like me, who genuinely want a job, because they need it.

That’s not a very nice thing to say about your brother ;)
