In the End, It’s All TV

Recently at my house, we switched from Time Warner cable to DirecTV satellite. After a few days of use, we’re pretty happy with the service. It’s nice moving from a DVR that can record up to two things at once (as opposed to the DVR we bought ourselves that only supports one thing at a time,) but in the end, it’s all just the same TV, and I don’t understand how switching the source of your TV can be so hyped up.
I mean, they (both satellite and cable providers,) hype up their service to be the best thing on the planet since the slicer came to sliced bread town, yet you’re getting the same stuff from both sides. I mean, we switched for purely economical reasons, we pay half as much for more than what we were getting with cable, but come on, it’s still TV. Don’t make it like it’s also going to make me a pizza every night when I ask for it.
I dunno, I suppose it’s because the average consumer is just too dumb to make any sort of decision, informed or not, without having their choices overhyped to hell.
