Intel Leaves the Inside; Consumers Confused About “Leaping” and Where “Ahead” Actually is

Intel made BIG NEWS recently about dropping it’s famous logo and slogan “Intel Inside,” saying good-bye to one of the most widely-known logos we have.

Instead, we now get this:

Intel: Leap Forward

Personally, given my preference for AMD, and how much the Pentium 4’s don’t quite deliver (they deliver more heat, if anything,) this image seems more fitting:

Intel: Marginal Improvement

But, to avoid an AMD vs. Intel, argument, I’m more focusing on what this means for Intel, and why I’m really confused about this.

Intel is going to expand, according to what they say. They’re staying in the CPU market, but, because the “computer market is slowing,” they feel the need to go and get into more markets. They mentioned that video games and which console to get is becoming a hot topic for consumers. This couldn’t have anything to do with the fact that every console maker went to IBM and their PowerPC architecture, could it? Cell phones are another hit! But this couldn’t do with that they are getting more complicated in hardware (and becoming a lot like PocketPC’s,) and thus going to need some type of processor for this expansion?

Intel is trying to get an “image.” You need an image? Listen, YOU MAKE PROCESSORS. The common person has not a single clue about the damn things except that it’s necessary for them to get their e-mail, play their flash games, or, god forbid, get their porn. THERE IS NO IMAGE FOR THAT.

Besides, what kind of image are you looking for with “Leap Ahead”? What is “Ahead”? Am I capable of “Leaping” to “Ahead”?

It’s like Nike’s “Just Do It” slogan. What is “It,” and what do you mean by “do”?

I bet by 2020, there will be some hot new fad in advertising, where advertisments actually describe what their products actually do. It will be an advertising revolution! Things make sense again! We know shoes allow you to run better, because they provide pedal support and better release time from the surface! With “Leap Ahead” I don’t know if this is to help me get an edge on my opponents or to leap ahead of the top of this building.

I just don’t know what the point of this is. Why do you need this image? You’re a computer component company, not a consumer electronic company.
