It’s Not So Much a “Store” as it’s a “Permanent Kiosk”

by Merv Burger on Oct.01, 2005, under Tech

So, I went to the mall today to help my friend do laptop searching. He wants a Dell. I think he really doesn’t need one.

Haha, logic? Logic does not exist!

We go to the Walden Galleria mall, where we look for it. Not listed on the maps, of course.

We find it, strategically placed next to the Apple Store. And, in all fashions I could only expect from Dell, it was just a plain and simple kiosk. I mean, you could “test” them out, but nothing extrodinary.

We mess around for about a half-hour on details and such. Then we go to the Apple Store. We spent about an hour or so there, messing around with PowerMacs, PowerBooks, Mac Mini’s, iPods ‘n such. I messed around with GarageBand, which is a program I certainly hope gets ported over to Windows (no matter how illegally,) when Macs hit x86. I messed around with the new Mighty Mouse they have, which is nothing, considering they sell Logitech’s MX1000 mouse.

I’ve always known there was an Apple Store there, but I never went there. Honestly, it is one of the best stores I have been in. So completely different than other computer stores. You could pretty much try anything you wanted to nearly any extent, in a nice, wide-open space.

I mean, I certainly don’t prefer Macs (I’ve grown impartial to them going into OS X,) but damn, if I was an absolute noob about computers, I would trust buying a computer from there.

It’s far better than, say, a kiosk.
