OMG !! LOL !!

On the Set: Allied Fleets Part 4 (Part 2 of 2)

by Merv Burger on Aug.10, 2005, under General

On Monday, we resumed filming of the commercial skits for The Allied Fleets.

We did “Governor Asshole,” “The Light Side and The Dark Side,” and “S&M Block.”

Governor Asshole took a long time to do. First they had to dress up, all in suits. Then we had to drive around, first looking for supplies to make fake blood (we settled on water and ketchup,) and then to go to our filming spots. The first spot was an abandoned mill in Lowertown Lockport, where we did our shoot, and got the hell out of there, not because of Trespassing (because every other drug user/”hardkore” teen in Lockport has at some point trespassed onto this property,) but because we didn’t want to be the ones in the wrong place/wrong time” scenario of anything collapsing.

The we went to Lockport Memorial Hospital and did three shoots there, one in front of the hospital, one in front of the Vetran’s Memorial, and one quick shoot at the parking lot of Washington Hunt Elementary School.

The shot at the Vetren’s Memorial took way too long. We had to get everything right, for to end up looking good for the end product. After numerous dry no-record runs and a few recorded runs, we got it done, did the next quick camera angle and got out of there (does a water-ketchup-dirt mixture left on a statue count as vandalism? Would have cleaned it up if the nearby water spicket and hose worked.)

“Light Side/Dark Side” went pretty well, after moving the cars needed into position and nearly blocking most of the street for a good half hour, and looked very good on film.

Then we moved onto “S&M Block,” to get through that pretty quickly with hilarious end results.

We then called it a day, got food and drink, and then went to clean up the back yard that we used to smash up stuff for “We Got Yo’ Shit.”

Tuesday and Wednesday are rest days, for some of the guys to head out to Cedar Point, where filming will start again on Thursday (including the huge Intermission smash!) with voiceovers happening on Thursday and Friday. Thursday is the day Kieth says will make or break everything. And he wants as much voiceover work done as possible so he isn’t doing much/any himself.
